In this imaginative, autobiographical coming-of-age tale, director Wes Hurley expands on his award-winning short film Little Potato. Potato is a young gay man living alongside his mother in the late 1980s Soviet Union – depicted in cleverly-crafted tableauxs featuring Lea DeLaria as Potato’s acid-tongued grandmother and Mean Girls‘ Jonathan Bennett as none other than Jesus Christ. When the opportunity to leave arises, Potato and his mother emigrate to America, where a strange and unpredictable new chapter in their lives begins. Told with great heart, playfulness, and more than a dash of erotic flair, Potato Dreams of America is the intimate and relatable immigrant story of two courageous people with big hopes and dreams.

Lea DeLaria, Jonathan Bennett and other cast members will be in attendance.
