15th Anniversary Screening! Come celebrate the quinceañera of QUINCEAÑERA!

Magdalena is on the verge of celebrating her 15th birthday, but her debut into adulthood is complicated when she discovers that she’s pregnant. At odds with her devoutly religious parents, she moves in with her cousin, the troublemaking heartthrob Carlos, and uncle Tomas, a kindly street vendor struggling to hold his ground in their rapidly-changing Echo Park neighborhood. Matters are only complicated further when Carlos becomes involved with the couple upstairs – white gay men whose advances are shaded by the power they wield as the family’s landlords.

Capturing the elation and confusion of coming-of-age, this uniquely authentic family drama – the first queer film to take home both the Grand Jury and Audience Awards at Sundance – explores the uneasy realities of gentrification, teen pregnancy, and burgeoning sexuality.

This film will only be played theatrically.
